We mourn Professor Kenneth R. Seddon, who suddenly died on 21 January 2018.
He was a founding father of the Green Solvents Conference and shaped this event with his manifold ideas. We will miss an excellent scientist and a unique person and will honour his memory.
The GSC9 Committee
A new and more representative name, combined with the proven concept of a successful series – that is “GSC9 – Advanced Reaction Media”, the vitally important platform for everybody working with and looking for innovative solvents.
The approaches discussed comprise aqueous phases, ionic liquids, supercritical fluids, green organic solvents, and liquid polymers, including also phase-separable reagents and solvent-free processes. Applications are focused on chemistry and related technologies, ranging from synthesis and purification to material science and analytics.
Since its foundation in 2002, the biennial series "Green Solvents Conference (GSC)" has established itself as a unique and essential platform for the discussion of scientific progress and industrial implementation of advanced fluids for chemical syntheses and processes. The 2018 meeting, now named “GSC9 – Advanced Reaction Media” to reflect the full breadth of this vitally important platform, features talks from the leaders of the field, both industrialists and academics. It will provide an ideal forum to exchange novel ideas, to critically discuss the current fundamental understanding, and to learn about some of the latest commercial applications in the field. The scientific programme comprises keynote and invited lectures, oral contributions, and a highly interactive poster session. The location at Lake Titisee provides a peaceful setting for the crucial informal discussions which are a strong feature of these meetings.
The Conference is coupled with an introductory Green Solvents Workshop, offering students and postdoctoral researchers the possibility to acquire a broad background for the various approaches through an interactive course comprising basic lectures as well as real-world case studies. At GSC8, this proved amazingly popular with the students, providing a sound training to allow them to be fully involved in the main meeting.
We cordially invite you to join these events in the beautiful and picturesque setting of Lake Titsee in the Southwest of Germany.
