Adsorption

Subject Division

 

The Subject Division deals with adsorption processes for gas and liquid purification, for chromatography and also for classical separation processes. In addition, the physico-chemical fundamentals of adsorption on solid surfaces play a significant role.

Areas of special interest:

  • Porous materials for adsorption: Molecular Sieves, Activated Carbons, Activated Alumina and Silica, polymer adsorbents, tailored materials such as Aerogels, MCMs and MOFs
  • Adsorption data: equilibria of pure substances and mixtures, mass transfer and exchange mechanisms, adsorption enthalpies
  • Adsorption processes for liquid separation and purification: pressure or temperature swing processes, chromatographic processes, waste-air purification, alternative regeneration methods
