Multiphase Flows

Subject Division

Multiphase flows are the rule rather than the exception in industrial processes. The central task of the Subject Division is the scientific and technical treatment of multiphase flows with respect to impulse, mass and heat transfer and also chemical and biochemical reactions. The Subject Division is, therefore, cross-disciplinary and independent of industrial sectors.
Main focuses of our activity:
  • Liquid-gas flows (bubble columns, evaporators)
  • Gas-liquid flows (sprays)
  • Liquid-solid flows (separation technology, fluidized beds)
  • Modeling and numerical simulation of multiphase flow
  • Measuring methods for the determination of phase distribution
  • Phase properties
