Materials Engineering

Working Party

The Working Party deals with questions relating to materials technology and production engineering in apparatus and plant construction. The focus is on the quality and availability of materials, processing and manufacture, and behaviour in operation. The corrosion resistance of materials in process environments also plays an important role. Problems are discussed across the disciplines, taking into account scientific fundamentals and operational boundary conditions.
Areas of special interest:
  • Availability and price trend of materials
  • Welding processing and surface engineering
  • Life-cycle assessment
  • Corrosion behaviour and means of improving corrosion resistance
