Drying
Subject Division
The Subject Division deals with processes and apparatus for drying of solids, suspensions, solutions and gels, the formulation of solid products and the adsorption on solids. Its aim is to explore the scientific fundamentals of drying technology and to apply them to the design of safe, energy-efficient drying processes and dryers and also to the formulation of functionalized solids (see www.drying.de/FA/). Focal areas of work:
- Simulation tools (continuum models, pore networks, CFD, population dynamics)
- Product quality and formulation (incl. fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, paper)
- Energy efficiency and process intensification, apparatus technology
- Modern measuring methods (incl. NMR, MRI, µCT, PEPT, PIV)
