Crystallization

Subject Division

The Subject Division devotes itself to the whole field of crystallization. The activities range from the molecular fundamentals of nucleation and crystal growth to the conceptual design and operation of plants for industrial-scale production of crystalline substances. This covers the production properties of the target products, such as purity, polymorphism, particle-size distribution and yield, as well as economical and ecological aspects of e.g. conservation of energy or product stream improvement of the non-crystallizing components.

Current fields of activity:

  • Product design (e. g. polymorphs and solvates, impurity effects, nanoparticles)
  • Crystallization in biotechnological processes
  • Advanced solvents
  • Hybrid separation processes
  • Measurement techniques in crystallization
